Louisiana Tech sophomore defensive tackle Rolando Melancon has been dismissed from the Bulldog football team for violating team rules.

Coach Derek Dooley announced the decision Friday. He didn't
release details of the infractions that sparked Melancon's
dismissal, but says the university has tried over the past year to
"counsel and guide him to meet our expectations of conduct" both
on and off the field.

Unfortunately, Dooley says, Melancon did not progress as hoped
and he can no longer remain on the team.

Melancon, of Gramercy, was a standout at Lutcher High School. He
redshirted his first year at Tech and was on the team's scout squad
last season.
