Brinkley, Gilbert Say They're Ready For "Civil War"

There are just a few days to go until the "Civil War" bout between Jesse Brinkley and Joey Gilbert. The war of words continued on Wednesday with Brinkley's trainer Peter Manfredo Sr getting into the mix.

"They better be ready," he warned Gilbert's corner. "Because he's going to get beat down."

Both guys had their final press conference on Wednesday at the ElDorado.

Of course there is tons of history behind this fight. Both guys are from northern Nevada; both guys fought in the show"The Contender" and on Valentine's Day both guys will step into the ring with the WBC USNBC world title on the line.

"This is what I've wanted," said Brinkley. "He's wanted it. It's finally here. The people want it. All my family and friends around this area have wanted it. Now, we're going to go out and whoever has the better night is going to win."

"Enough has been said. Mostly by Jesse," said Gilbert. "But it is what it is. It's nothing personal. This is business. This is my way back up and I'm happy to be here. I feel blessed. We've got the community behind both of us. What more could I ask for?

The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds at the Reno Events Center on Saturday. Doors open at six o'clock with the first bell at seven.

As of Wednesday, more than four thousand tickets had been sold.
