Local North Carolina school officials say a high school basketball player has died after collapsing following a water break during practice.
Wilson County schools spokesman Bob Kendall said 14-year-old
Anthony Dontra Eatmon died Monday afternoon at Hunt High School in
Wilson, about 40 miles east of Raleigh.
The freshman was a member of the school's junior varsity
football and basketball teams, and the chorus.
The team had completed warmup drills and was taking a break when
Eatmon collapsed. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Kendall said Eatmon's last physical was in May as required and
it showed no problems.
The school had a moment of silence when classes resumed Tuesday.
Kendall said there was no word yet on funeral or memorial services.
