Persistent rain Monday at Auto Club Raceway forced NHRA officials
to postpone the Kragen O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals until Tuesday.
It was the fifth consecutive day of rain delays at the NHRA Full
Throttle Drag Racing Series' season-opening event. The remaining
Top Fuel and Funny Car eliminations will open Tuesday's racing,
followed by the resumption of the Pro Stock first round.
On Sunday, one round was completed in Top Fuel and Funny Car,
with defending series champion Tony Schumacher and top qualifier
Antron Brown winning in Top Fuel.
In Funny Car, top qualifier Robert Hight and Ashley Force Hood
were among the winners, while defending world champion Cruz
Pedregon lost to Jack Beckman. Only two pairs of cars were able to
run in Pro Stock.
