New Mexico State freshman guard Terrance Joyner was arrested after authorities discovered marijuana inside his luggage as the team departed on a two-game road trip to Utah State and Nevada.

Chris Mears, a police spokesman in El Paso, Texas, said Joyner was arrested and charged with marijuana possession Wednesday after security agents at the city's airport found 11/2 marijuana cigarettes inside a checked bag belonging to the player.

According to jail records, Joyner was released after posting $300 bond.

School officials said earlier Joyner had been suspended indefinitely after violating undisclosed team rules. Coach Marvin Menzies declined additional comment Thursday.

The Aggies were in Logan, Utah, to play Utah State on Thursday night before traveling for Saturday's game at Nevada.

Joyner averaged 2.1 points and 11.7 minutes in 14 games since being cleared academically for the second semester.

He committed to Arkansas out of high school in Woodland Hills, Calif., but was later released and arrived at New Mexico State last spring
