The Wolf Pack women will be taking the floor with heavy hearts and without their head coach on Friday.
Jane Albright is skipping the game to go to a funeral service for coaching legend Kay Yow.
Albright grew up just minutes away from Yow's hometown of Gibsonville and knew her for more than 30 years. The first-year coach had Christmas dinner with Yow every year in North Carolina and says the decision to skip Friday's game was a no-brainer.
"I'm a basketball coach, but it wouldn't have mattered what my job was. I'd have been at her funeral," said Albright. "All over the country people will be honoring her that day and I'll be there with my family honoring her and her legend. And my team will be here playing in pink uniforms honoring her because that's what she would want to happen."
Yow passed away on Jan 24 after a long bout with cancer.
The Wolf Pack plan on honoring her with a special ceremony at a game on Feb. 20. You can find more details on this at our special "Wolf Pack Sports" section on the sports page.
