Former Pack Standout Dickerson Will Have Some Competition In Left Field

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty says Jonny Gomes will compete for the job in left field with former Wolf Pack star Chris Dickerson, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Gomes, recently signed to a minor league contract with the club. He hit .182 with eight home runs and 21 RBI last season for Tampa Bay. He also spent time in Triple-A.

"I spoke to Jonny," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "We're going to give him an opportunity."

Dickerson made his case late last season when he was recalled from Triple-A Louisville. He hit .304 with a .413 on-base percentage in 31 games beginning on Aug. 12.
