The Reno Bighorns announced on Saturday that Tony Funderburg, Chief Operating Officer of the National Basketball D-League team, has resigned to take a position with Gateway International Raceway in his hometown of St. Louis.

Funderburg’s last day with the team was January 15.

“I want to thank Tony for his many contributions to the successful launch of the Bighorns,” said David Kahn of Southwest Basketball, LLC. “Tony’s past experience in minor league sports was a benefit to the entire staff.”

“We completely understand his and his family’s desire to return home, and the opportunity to work in NASCAR, his true passion.”

With Funderburg’s departure, the Bighorns will undergo a restructuring of the front office in the next several weeks.
