Mitchell Struggles at East-West Shrine Game

Updated: Sat 10:43 PM, Jan 17, 2009

Wolf Pack wide receiver Marko Mitchell failed to impress the NFL scouts at the East-West Shrine Game. Mitchell played most of the second half and finished without a catch.

Mitchell had a few opportunities during the game, dropping two balls that hit him right in the hands. He even had a chance to make the game-winning touchdown grab.

The West trailed the East 24-19 with two minutes to go. West quarterback Stephen McGee threw a "jump-ball" pass to Mitchell in the corner of the endzone, but the ball sailed right through his hands.

The East won the game 24-19.

Mitchell also made news this week at practice. Several scouts listed him as one of the biggest disappointments of the week.

He's still holding out hope that he'll receive and invitation to the upcoming NFL combine.
