Four Locals Nominated for McDonald's All-American Game

For excellence both on and off the basketball court, four Reno area seniors have been recognized as the finest basketball players in the country through their nomination to the 2009 McDonald’s All American™ High School Basketball Teams.

Jessica Waggoner of Douglas High School; Duke Williams of Hug High School; Jordan Rogers of Spanish Springs High School and Austin Morgan of Reno High School are among the top 2,500 male and female prep basketball standouts in the nation nominated by the McDonald’s All American Basketball Team Selection Committee, a group of nationally prominent basketball experts.

As nominees, these players will be considered for one of the 24 positions on each of the final 2009 McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Teams (Boys and Girls) that will compete in this year’s McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Game. Final teams will be selected in February.

This year’s 32nd McDonald’s All American Boys Game will be played Wednesday, April1, at the BankUnited Center in Miami, Fla. and will be broadcast live on ESPN at 9:30 p.m. (EST). For the eighth time in the history of the Game, the Girls Game will be played with tip-off at 5:30 p.m. (EST) and will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

Proceeds from both Games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida. To date, millions of dollars have been donated to RMHC Chapters from proceeds generated at the McDonald’s All American Games.
