Will Conroy of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds has been named NBA D-League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Jan. 5, 2008. Conroy is the first Thunderbird to earn the honor this season.
Conroy led the Thunderbirds to a 4-0 record last week, including a 2-0 record at the NBA D-League Showcase, averaging 25.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists. He shot .507 (35-of-69) from the field, and connected on 10 three-pointers. His top game of the week came on Saturday when he scored 30 points with eight assists in a win over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
A 6-2 guard, Conroy is leading the NBA D-League with 25.0 points per game this season. A NBA D-League veteran, Conroy received three GATORADE Call-Ups to the NBA during the 2006-07 season as a member of the Tulsa 66ers.
Other top performers last week included Dakota’s Blake Ahearn who averaged 25.3 points and made 18 three-pointers for the Wizards; Malik Hairston, who averaged 25.5 points and 5.3 rebounds for the Austin Toros on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, Bakersfield's Trey Johnson, who averaged 29.0 points in four games for the Jam this week; Coby Karl, who averaged 24.8 points and 6.5 assists for the Idaho Stampede, and Anaheim’s James White, who averaged 29.8 points in four games for the Arsenal.
