The Giants are looking at signing third baseman Joe Crede, according to SI.com.
Crede has struggled with back problems for the last two seasons, but the Giants are said to be satisfied with his condition.
The 30-year-old has played his entire career with the White Sox. He helped the team win a World Series in 2005.
Last season, Crede played in 97 games for Chicago and hit .248 with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs.
