The Fort Wayne Mad Ants continued their improved play with a 101-92 victory over the Reno Bighorns at the Memorial Coliseum.
The Mad Ants' offense sputtered in the first half, with the Bighorns leading for the majority of the first 24 minutes of play. In spite of that inconsistent play, the Ants were able to nudge their way back into the game and enter halftime tied at 46. Ron Howard and Coleman Collins chipped in 12 points apiece for the Ants.
The Mad Ants came out hot in the third quarter to take a seven point lead, but quickly gave that lead back to the Bighorns, who took a three point lead. The Ants were able to finish the third quarter strong, however, and went into the fourth quarter with a 74-71 lead that they would not relinquish.
Howard led all scorers with 25 points and pulled down 11 boards. The big men were also impressive once again for the Ants. Power forward Coleman Collins finished with an impressive 24 points on 11 of 20 shooting, center Chris Hunter recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and center Toree Morris played his best game off the season with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Walker Russell, Jr. also put together another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Antonio Meeking played a fine game and led the way for the Bighorns with 20 points. Dave Noel added 19 for the 1-9 Bighorns.
