Atlanta beat Minnesota 24-17 on Sunday, clinching the NFC Wildcard spot. That means Harvey Dahl is now heading to the playoffs for the first time in his NFL career
Dahl certainly has come a long way. The Fallen native enjoyed a stellar career at Nevada, being named to the All-WAC first team his senior season on the offensive line.
Dahl went undrafted out of Nevada, but he got an opportunity as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys in 2005. He was later waived and claimed off of waivers by the 49ers.
He was then allocated to NFL Europe and spent some time on the 49ers practice squad. He even suited up for a few of the 49ers games, and saw some action in one game against the Rams.
Dahl was signed by the Falcons last season, and this year he's become a starter at right guard. He's even been mentioned by a few of the Falcons' beat writers as a candidate for the team's most improved player award.
Named to the Outland Trophy watch list in July of 2004 as one of the top 57 linemen, offense or defense, in the country prior to the start of the 2004 campaign at Nevada. Also named to the Lombardi watch list.
Served as a co-captain of the Wolf Pack his senior season. Named first-team All-WAC for the second consecutive season.
Signed from the San Francisco practice squad to the active roster (12/20) and was inactive for final two games of the season at St. Louis (12/24) and versus Houston (1/1/06).
Allocated to NFL Europe Rhein Fire where he played under the direction of 49ers defensive line coach Jim Tomsula who was the Fire’s Head Coach at the time.
Competed in four games, was inactive for nine contests and was active but did not play in three others.
Played in his first NFL game against St. Louis (9/17), seeing action in the 49ers goal line offense in the second quarter.
Saw action on special teams and on offense versus Oakland (10/8), reporting as an eligible receiver twice on fourth-down conversion attempts.
Started the season on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad.
Inactive for his first eight contests with the Falcons.
Competed in one game in the season finale against Seattle (12/30).
Falcons everyday starter at right guard.
