It's looking more like the Wolf Pack football team will make another appearance in a bowl game hosted by the city of Boise.
Ball State University athletic officials have informed Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl that the Mid-American Conference team is not a candidate to play Boise State University in what would have been the only 2008-9 college football bowl game matching undefeated teams.
“It’s unfortunate for college football that we are not able to put together these two unbeaten and nationally ranked teams in the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl,” said Kevin McDonald, executive director of the Boise-based bowl game. “There was some good creativity, flexibility and enterprise among all the potential participants to try to make this thing happen but in the end it couldn’t be worked out. Invitations will be made for the 2008 Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl in the next few days.”
McDonald said the positive news for the 2008 Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl is that the sixth consecutive match up of teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Western Athletic Conference will deliver two teams that have competed for division or conference titles all season.
“We look forward to welcoming a team of the quality of Maryland, Wake Forest, Florida State or Miami that has competed all year long for a divisional championship in the ACC and either Boise State or a Nevada team that has asserted itself as very difficult to handle,” he said.
The 12th Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl, sponsored by Roady’s Truck Stops, will be held at Bronco Stadium in Boise, ID on December 30, 2008 at 1:30PM pacific time.
