The University of Nevada soccer team fell to Fresno State, 2-0, in the semifinals of the WAC Tournament Friday night at Mackay Stadium.
The second-seeded Fresno State eliminated #6 Nevada and will face #1 Utah State in the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Fresno State scored the game-winning goal in the 16th minute as Bradlee DeShane played the ball through the Nevada defense and found teammate Ali Sill who beat Nevada keeper Sarah Hunt to the near post.
In the 52nd minute, Cristen Drummond took the ball from the left side of the field to center and took a long-range shot that was saved by Fresno State keeper Kaitlyn Revel.
With 15 minutes remaining in the game, Karen Zmirak won a 50-50 ball in midfield and played Annabelle Allen on the right. Off Allen’s cross, Revel had to punch the cross out of the box. The deflection went to Drummond who hit her shot high.
Fresno State scored an insurance goal in the 84th minute as Laura Dodd scored off a close-range shot off an assist by Alex Jensen.
Nevada ended the game with 12 shots (six on goal) while Fresno State finished the game with nine shots (five on goal). Drummond took a game-high four shots for Nevada.
Hunt finished with three saves for the Pack while Revel finished with six for the Bulldogs.
