The Miami Heat waived David Padgett on Sunday. Padgett was one of two players released in the final round of cuts by the Heat, who had to trim their roster to the NBA maximum of 15 players.
Padgett was an un-drafted rookie free-agent out of Louisville. He appeared in three preseason games, averaging 3.7 points and two rebounds in 10 minutes per game.
Padgett still made $50,000 dollars during training camp as part of guaranteed deal he signed earlier this summer with Miami.
Padgett was an All-Big East First team selection last season at Louisville, averaging 11 points and 5 rebounds per game. He was also Honorable Mention for the AP All-American Team
Padgett was a star at Reno High School. He was a McDonald's All-American his senior season with the Huskies.
