Nevada’s Candice Minette has been named the Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Week for the week of Oct. 6-12.
Minette, a senior from Glendale, Ariz. (Mountain Ridge HS), dominated the diving portion of the WAC Shoot-Out in Las Cruces over the weekend by capturing the one and 3-meter diving events on Friday with scores of 275.25 and 285.40, respectively on Friday. The Arizona native continued her dominance by winning both events on Saturday with scores of 269.75 (1-meter) and 247.80 (3-meter). Minette won all four events that she competed in by an average of 35.20 points at the WAC Shoot-Out. This marks the second time the senior has garnered WAC weekly honors.
Other nominees included: Mariesa Cloud of New Mexico State showed strong in her Aggie Debut at the WAC Shoot-Out with two runner-up finishes. San Jose State’s Jo Thibodaux helped the Spartans to a perfect 5-0 weekend at the WAC Shoot-Out by defeating Air Force and New Mexico State on the 3-meter board in consecutive days.
