Ault Tabs Soph Kapernick as UNR QB Starter Over Jr. Graziano

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada football coach Chris Ault has named sophomore Colin Kaepernick his starting quarterback for Saturday's
home opener against Grambling State.

Kaepernick became the starter last year when Nick Graziano was lost for the season with a foot injury in the fifth game. He went on to be named the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year.

Ault says Kaepernick will start Saturday's game but both signal callers will play.

Graziano, a junior, had surgery to reattach a tendon in his right foot on October eighth. He was not able to practice in the spring, and then suffered a toe injury in the third week of preseason camp that has limited his time.

Graziano is generally considered to have the stronger arm but Kaepernick's whose speed and quickness makes him more of a dual-threat quarterback.
