The Nevada basketball team has lost one of its new recruits.

Wolf Pack Coach Mark Fox announced Friday that incoming freshman
Mark McLaughlin will not be attending UNR this fall.

Fox says the 6-foot-5 guard from Kenmore, Washington and his
family decided that was best because they still have no formal
ruling on his academic status from the NCAA Eligibility Center.

McLaughlin was an all-conference player in high school. Known
for his shooting touch from 3-point range, he was listed on the
Long Beach Press-Telegram's prestigious "Best in the West" team.
He ranked among the top 20 guards in the country according to
Scout.com.

He also had been recruited by Illinois, Oregon and Cal.
