Aarik Wilson came into the Olympics a little banged up....and it may have cost him a shot at the Gold.

The Fallon High grad fractured his left tibia back in late May, severely limiting his training. Despite that, he qualified first at the Olympic trials with a record-setting jump of 57 feet. A jump he could not duplicate in Beijing.

Wilson scratched on his first attempt, then had a 15.51(m) jump and a 15.97 (m) jump. He finished 16th in his group, and does not qualify for the medal round.

It was still a great showing for Wilson, who had his little town of Fallon feeling especially patriotic this week.
