Nevada's Rodriguez, Howe Named First Team All-WAC Baseball

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada third baseman Jason Rodriguez and pitcher Kyle Howe have been named to the first team of the all-Western Athletic Conference baseball team.

Wolf Pack outfielders Mike Hale and Matt bowman, first baseman Shaun Kort and relief pitcher Mario Rivera join them on the second team.

Rodriguez led Nevada this season with a .391 batting average, second best in the WAC. The senior from Rancho Cucamonga, California also had a team-high eight home runs, 20 doubles and drove in 56 runs with a slugging percentage of .614.

Howe finished the regular season with an 8-2 record and a 3.55 earned run average that was third best in the WAC. The senior right-hander from Poulsbo (POOLS-boh), Washington pitched five complete games, striking out 47, walking 29 and allowing only 67 hits over 78 2/3 innings.
