NCAA Officials Continue Probe of Nevada Golf Coach

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Officials with the National Collegiate Athletic Association are back in Reno as part of their probe into alleged violations by Nevada men's golf coach Rich Merritt.

The NCAA visited the campus in March. UNR athletic director Cary
Groth says officials at the time asked for more information and
indicated they'd be back.

The investigation comes on the heels of a whistle-blower complaint filed by former women's soccer coach Terri Patraw, who was fired last year.

Patraw alleged that Merritt provided free meals to his athletes, an airline ticket to one athlete, offered money to a woman golfer to eat her teammate's regurgitated food and has bet on professional or college sports.

Nevada suspended Merritt for three matches after an internal investigation confirmed some of the allegations.
