A controversial new beer ban at UNR Football games is expected to be decided next month.

The impetus behind the idea is to make football games more fan-friendly and family-friendly.

If there is a prohibition on beer sales the ban would apply only to the stadium and not to the pre game tailgating.

The idea to ban the sale of beer at football games has prompted one student leader to launch a Facebook group to fight it.

I have seen an increase over the last few years of drunken obnoxious fans. Banning beer during game time isn't going to help. People will just tank up more prior to the game. Beer sales are fundraisers for many groups.Limit the sales per person during the game. Bags are checked before entering the stadium, start checking some of the fans too.

Count me as one to support banning beer at Mackay Stadium.

I am furious with UNR for banning the sell of beer. If you have an issue with a few drunk jackass fans, kick them out!!! Do not punish the rest of us. This country is getting into a very bad habit of banning anything because of the behavior of a few....STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Make you wonder what's more important. Beer or the game.
