RENO, Nev. – Cornerback Malik James has been dismissed from the University of Nevada football team for a violation of team rules, head coach Chris Ault announced Sunday.
“I am disappointed in Malik and that his college career is ending this way,” Ault said.
James, a senior-to-be from Los Angeles, Calif., was listed as a second-string cornerback on the Wolf Pack’s spring depth chart. James played one season at Cincinnati before transferring. He came to Nevada prior to the 2010 season, which he sat out due to NCAA transfer rules. He played in six games in 2011, primarily on special teams. He recorded two tackles on the year, both coming against Southern Miss in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.
