Marcelus Kemp scored 24 points and Brandon Fields added a career-best 22 as the Nevada Wolf Pack held off the University of Central Florida Knights, 86-74, on Sunday.
JaVale McGee added 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds as Nevada (5-4) extended its winning streak to three games.
Jermaine Taylor had 27 points to lead UCF (5-5). Taylor had five 3-pointers in the second half and Dave Noel also added 20 points.
Taylor hit his first five 3-point attempts as UCF cut Nevada's lead to 62-59 with just under seven minutes to play. The Knights took their only lead of the second half at 54-53 on Taylor's third 3-pointer with 10:50 to play in the game.
Nevada took a 36-34 halftime lead thanks to 15 points from Fields. Fields had three 3-pointers in the first half. Noel led Central Florida with 11 points in the opening half.
The Wolf Pack took its biggest lead of the first half at 32-21 on an 18-foot jump shot by Armon Johnson with 6:17 to go. The shot, though, was Nevada's final field goal of the opening half as Central Florida went on a 13-4 run over the final five minutes. Central Florida led by as many as six (6-0 and 8-2) in the opening half.
UCF defeated Nevada, 63-60, in Orlando, Fla., on Nov. 11 in the season opener for both teams.
Nevada will host Colorado State on Wednesday while Central Florida will have 12 days off before hosting Connecticut on Dec. 28.
