Washoe Commissioners Approve Bonds For Reno Stadium

Washoe County commissioners have approved up to $32 million in revenue bonds to be backed by a tax on rental cars to help build a new baseball stadium in downtown Reno.

Construction is expected to begin in January on the 6,500-seat ball field.

Grassy areas beyond the outfield would allow additional seating for a total of 10,000.

A group called SK Baseball bought the Tucson Sidewinders, a Triple A team, this summer.

The stadium is expected to be finished for the 2009 season.
