Some bad news for Nevada basketball fans. Wolf Pack coach Mark Fox says forward Richie Phillips will be out four to six weeks with a stress fracture in his lower left leg.
The 6’7”, 220-pound sophomore has been plagued with injuries since he came to Nevada from Seattle's Franklin High School and redshirted his first season in 2005-06.
Last season, he was slowed by offseason surgery on his right leg and then missed more time in January and February after suffering a torn finger tendon. He ended up playing in 11 games, averaging about 1 point and 1 rebound per outing.
Fox says he's extremely disappointed because Phillips has made significant progress as a player. He says they hope to get him back as soon as they can.
Nevada hosts Seattle in an exhibition November 3 and opens the regular season November 11 at Central Florida.
