TUCSON, Ariz.—Adam Eaton registered three doubles and a triple Sunday night, leading the Reno Aces to a 4-2 victory and a series sweep over the Tucson Padres at Kino Stadium.
Reno trailed by a run through six innings, but tied it in the seventh and went ahead for good in the eighth. The Aces have won seven-straight games and a franchise record 12 of their last 13. The club has begun its longest road trip of the season with a 7-1 record and set a new club record with five sweeps already this season.
Eaton—who leads all Minor League batters in hits this season—doubled in the first, third and seventh innings before tripling in the ninth, finishing-off a 4-for-5 day at the plate and raising his batting average to a Pacific Coast League best .398.
Jake Elmore singled to right in the sixth inning, stretching his hitting streak to 20-straight games.
Aces starter Charles Brewer took a no decision, allowing a run on five hits over 2.2 innings before being ejected from the game. After his exit, the quintet of Zach Kroenke, Jensen Lewis, Joe Paterson, Sam Demel and Jonathan Albaladejo held the Padres to just one run over the game’s final 6.1 frames. Lewis (1-0) earned the win, while Albaladejo worked a spotless ninth, converting his team-leading 11th save of the season.
The loss fell to Tucson reliever Josh Spence (2-1), who allowed the go-ahead run in the eighth and an insurance run in the ninth.
Reno now hits the third and final leg of this road trip with a visit to Security Service Field in Colorado Springs.
