First baseman Kila Ka'aihue was released by the Aces today, after he exercised an out in his contract.
Ka'aihue was Reno's biggest power hitter, leading the Pacific Coast League with 16 home runs and 50 RBI. He was batting .313 in 53 games this season, with nine doubles and 38 runs scored. He'll try to sign with another team that gives him a better shot to reach the major leagues.
The Diamondbacks also called up pitcher Randall Delgado to fill a roster spot. Delgado is 1-4 with a 6.84 ERA in 11 starts in Reno. He'll take Brandon McCarthy's spot in the rotation, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list by Arizona.
Aces starter Tyler Skaggs is also expected to be called up to start on Tuesday. He was supposed to start for Reno tonight, but was scratched. Willy Paredes will get the start in his place.
Skaggs is 4-5 with a 5.23 ERA in nine games this season. He made one start for the Diamondbacks last week, pitching six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts.
