RENO, Nev.—The Aces scored five times over the seventh and eighth innings Thursday night to force extra innings, but Round Rock pushed across a run in the 10th to escape with a 9-8 victory over Reno at Aces Ballpark.
The Express jumped-ahead early with two runs in the first and took a 6-3 lead into the seventh. But the Aces would fire back, ultimately tying the score in the eighth on a two-out RBI double by Konrad Schmidt.
After both teams went quietly in the ninth, Round Rock broke up the deadlock in the 10th and held on in the home half for the victory, handing the Aces their sixth-straight loss.
Jonathan Albaladejo (4-3) took the loss in relief for the Aces, surrendering the eventual game-winner in the 10th. Starter Zach Kroenke worked five innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.
The win went to Express reliever Joe Ortiz (1-1), who worked 2.2 scoreless frames. Johan Yan worked a shutout 10th for his first save.
At the dish for Reno, Schmidt and Adam Eaton registered three hits apiece. Mike Jacobs homered and drove in two, while Taylor Harbin doubled twice.
