PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Diamondbacks signed two of their top draft picks - pitchers J.R. Bradley and Robby Rowland - and assigned them to an advanced rookie league in Missoula, Mont.
Terms of the contracts were not disclosed Friday.
Bradley, a 6-foot-4 right-hander, was the 56th overall selection of last week's draft. He had a 12-0 record and 0.67 ERA this season with 102 strikeouts over 63 innings in leading Nitro (W. Va.) High School to a state championship. He also hit .500 with 12 home runs, 15 doubles and 51 RBI.
Rowland, the 88th overall pick, is the son of former major leaguer Rich Rowland. The 6-foot-6 right-hander had a 7-1 record and 0.32 ERA while striking out 117 in 65 innings this season for Cloverdale (Calif.) High School. He also pitched a perfect game on April 14.
