ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico—One night after Reno dealt its first shutout of the season, the script was reversed Wednesday night as the Albuquerque Isotopes silenced the Aces 2-0 at Isotopes Park.

John Lindsey smacked a two-out, two-run home run to centerfield in the bottom of the first inning, putting the Isotopes ahead 2-0 early.

From that point forward, neither team would touch the scoreboard in a brisk 2-hour, 18-minute affair.

Reno starter Wes Roemer (1-1), making his second-career Triple-A start, was the hard-luck loser on Wednesday. Roemer surrendered just four hits, striking out five over seven innings of work. But the Lindsey home run hung on Roemer’s ledger for the evening. Luis Ayala spelled Roemer in the eighth, and he would work a scoreless frame against his former club, despite allowing a hit and a walk.

The win went to Isotopes starter James McDonald (4-1), who worked five innings of scoreless, two-hit baseball before being removed due to injury. Former Aces reliever Scott Dohmann (2) came on in the ninth and slammed the door for his second save of the season. The Aces used back-to-back singles to bring the go-ahead run to the plate, but Dohmann would strike out the game’s final two batters to end the proceedings.

Both clubs managed just five hits on the night. Pedro Ciriaco accounted for Reno’s lone extra-base hit, a fifth-inning double.

The series comes to a close on Thursday night from The Lab. RHP Bryan Augenstein (2-5, 5.33 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Albuquerque will turn to former Aces pitcher RHP Seth Etherton (0-0, 7.20 ERA). First pitch is again slated for 5:35 p.m. PT.
