PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed outfielder
Conor Jackson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
Jackson was hurt while lunging for Will Venable's fly ball in the seventh inning of Sunday's 5-3 loss at San Diego. Jackson says he plans to work on rehabilitation for 10 days, then go to extended spring training in Tucson before joining the team in Houston when his 15 days are up.
Jackson, who had been batting leadoff and was hitting .267, missed virtually all of last season with a fatigue-causing illness known as "valley fever."
Arizona recalled right-handed reliever Esmerling Vasquez from Triple-A Reno to take Jackson's roster spot and try to bolster a bullpen that had blown six saves in the past five games entering Monday night's play. Two of the blown saves came in the same game.
