Reno, Nev.— Trent Oeltjen continued his scorching offensive run with three doubles and a home run, but the Las Vegas 51s piled up 16 hits en route to a 12-6 win Tuesday over the Reno Aces in the series opener at Cashman Field.

Oeltjen finished 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two more driven in. This performance comes just after Oeltjen torched Tacoma for four home runs, two triples and 10 RBIs in a four-game series at Aces Ballpark.

Oeltjen’s efforts went for naught, though, as Las Vegas scored in six different innings to take the first of a three-game set.

The loss fell to Reno starter Hector Ambriz (3-6), who allowed five runs—four earned—on nine hits over five innings of work. The 51s touched up the Reno bullpen for seven more runs after Ambriz’s exit.

The win went to Sean Stidfole (1-0), who tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen.

Aside from Oeltjen’s day at the plate, four other Aces—Chris Roberson, Rusty Ryal, Abraham Nunez and Orlando Mercado—each collected two hits.

The series continues on Thursday from Cashman Field. RHP Bryan Augenstein (1-3, 5.87 ERA) takes the ball for the Aces, while LHP Fabio Castro (3-3, 3.92 ERA) gets the nod for the 51s. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Reno returns home for a nine-game homestand starting with a sold-out July 4 game against the Sacramento River Cats.
