LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities have identified a 50-year-old man
whose slaying in a northwest Las Vegas home preceded a related
shooting that left a suspect dead and an officer wounded.
The Clark County coroner said Thursday that Rodolfo
Velasco-Bayardo of Las Vegas died Tuesday of multiple stab wounds.
His death was classified as a homicide.
Las Vegas police say Velasco-Bayardo was found dead in a Stacey
Avenue home about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, a little more than eight hours
before police shot and killed a man identified as a suspect in the
case during a chase in a nearby neighborhood.
The names of the man slain by police and the wounded police
officer haven't been made public.
The officer was hospitalized in stable condition at University
Medical Center.
