Tech Academy Wins Science Bowl
A team from Advanced Technologies Academy in Las Vegas topped 31 other teams in a regional competition and will represent Nevada in a federal Energy Department National Science Bowl in April.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A team from Advanced Technologies Academy in
Las Vegas topped 31 other teams in a regional competition and will
represent Nevada in a federal Energy Department National Science
Bowl in April.
The team of five students coached by biology teacher Becky
Colledge also won $5,000 for their school in the 10-hour Nevada
Regional Science Bowl held Saturday at VegasPBS facilities on East
Flamingo Road.
Green Valley High School in Henderson took second and the
Meadows School from Las Vegas placed third in the
"Jeopardy!"-style event with questions from astronomy, biology,
chemistry, earth science, physics, math, trigonometry and calculus.
The event is hosted in Las Vegas by the U.S. Department of
Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site
Office.
