LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities are identifying a 23-year-old
homicide suspect shot and killed in Las Vegas this week, and the
police officers involved his shooting.
The Clark County coroner reported Friday that Jason Baires died
of head and chest wounds in the 2 a.m. Wednesday shootout that
wounded a police officer.
Police say Las Vegas officers Greg Theobald and Thomas Faller
and Henderson Detective David Rowlett were involved in that
incident, which followed the slaying of a 50-year-old man at a
Stacey Avenue home.
Officials also identified officers who wounded a knife-wielding
escaped prison inmate in a separate incident about nine hours
earlier.
Police say officers Steven Williams and Keegan Doty shot state
prison inmate Larry Jevon Barber about 5 p.m. Tuesday after chasing
him into a motel lobby on East Fremont Street.
