HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Firefighters say a family and two pets
escaped injury in an overnight fire blamed on careless smoking at a
home in Henderson.
Henderson firefighters responded a little after 1 a.m. Friday to
the two-story duplex on Spotted Eagle Street. They found three
adults and a child outside, and were able to rescue two pets
inside.
No injuries were reported. Investigators ruled the fire
accidental and estimated damage at about $50,000.
The American Red Cross is helping the family find a place to
live while repairs are made.
