CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Supreme Court says a lawsuit
filed against a Las Vegas funeral home for a botched burial can
proceed.
The family of Baptist Pastor Jack Douglas Sr. sued Valley
Funeral Home after a strap broke as the casket was being lowered
into the ground. The casket opened and the deceased's head was
exposed.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, the suit says Douglas' widow fainted when the casket fell and she saw the head of her dead husband lodged between the casket lid and the bottom of the grave.
Valley had asked the court to dismiss the suit on grounds it had
been filed beyond the statute of limitation. But justices rejected
the petition, saying the lawsuit had been electronically filed
within the two-year time limit.
