LAS VEGAS (AP) - A repeat felon and his brother are going to federal prison for selling and transporting firearms from Nevada to Mexico.
U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said Wednesday that 29-year-old Jonnatan Weiss received five years and 37-year-old William Weiss received two years at sentencing Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Edward C. Reed Jr. in Las Vegas.
William Weiss is from Hesperia, Calif. Jonnatan Weiss lived in Tijuana, Mexico, and Chula Vista, Calif. He had a felony drug trafficking conviction in 2000.
The two men pleaded guilty Nov. 24 to conspiracy to receive, transport and deal in firearms, and to the federal charge of transporting firearms into state of residency.
Bogden says a 65-year-old alleged coconspirator, Francisco Ulloa, was arrested March 2 in Tijuana. He is expected to stand trial in Las Vegas.
