LAS VEGAS (AP) - Firefighters are calling a two-alarm fire suspicious after it left a vacant apartment complex badly damaged during the weekend in downtown Las Vegas.
Las Vegas fire spokesman Tim Szymanski says no one was hurt in the 8 p.m. Saturday blaze at the two-story Porter Apartments on Santa Paula Drive, near Saint Louis Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.
Investigators believe the fire started under suspicious circumstances in an upstairs bedroom.
Neighbors told investigators the building was vacated last month on a city order due to poor condition, and a maintenance worker had been seen removing appliances in recent days.
