LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman's harsh criticism
of President Obama for suggesting that people saving money for college shouldn't blow it in Las Vegas is stirring a backlash.

A group of residents and community leaders has accused Goodman of overreacting and apologized to Obama for the mayor's remarks.

Goodman said during a news conference Tuesday that Obama is no friend to Las Vegas and would not be welcomed in the city if he visits.

But at a news conference Friday at City Hall, state Assemblyman Harvey Munford, Las Vegas Ward Five Chamber of Commerce resident
Katherine Duncan and others criticized Goodman's remarks.

They extended an invitation to Obama to visit Las Vegas and said they would welcome him to the city even if Goodman won't.

Oscar Goodman was full of hot air which is not unusual for him. He's termed out as Vegas mayor. Hope he retires already.

Very simply, The president could of said if you are saving for college you do not go blow your cash gambling this would of covered all places and types of gambling instead he has for the second time singled out Las Vegas.

And no I won't "go anywhere else" because I disagree with Goodman. I strongly disagree with the "if you don't like what I like, leave" attitude. We don't all think the same, and I'm THANKFUL for that!
