LAS VEGAS (AP) - The U.S. attorney for Nevada says a Las Vegas street gang member has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in a 2004 shooting at a North Las Vegas apartment complex.
U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden says 22-year-old Charles Richard Jr. was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
Richard pleaded guilty in July to one count of conspiracy to murder in furtherance of a racketeering enterprise and one count of discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
Police say that on Sept. 13, 2004, Richard, who was 16 at the time, and other members of the Squad Up gang organized an ambush-style attack on a group of people gathered outside their homes.
One person was killed and four others shot.
Two other people have been convicted and sentenced in the case.
