LAS VEGAS (AP) - A judge has ordered a Las Vegas man to serve eight years in prison for ramming his car into a federal officer.
Daniel G. Bogden, U.S. Attorney for Nevada, said Monday that 31-year-old Lon Allen Clark was sentenced for assaulting, resisting and impeding a federal officer. Clark pleaded guilty Aug. 8.
Authorities say Clark was behind the wheel of a parked Honda Accord in September 2008 when a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer conducting a fugitive investigation began to approach him.
Authorities say Clark stepped on the accelerator, and the car hit the ICE officer and an SUV. The officer fired shots as the car drove off, and Las Vegas police later found the Honda abandoned in a vacant lot.
Bogden said in a release that investigators later determined Clark was the driver of the car.
