PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say a 57-year-old Pahrump man has been arrested for allegedly molesting 10 children.

Samuel Vernon Hamett was arrested Sunday on suspicion of lewdness with a child under 14, sexual assault of a child under 14, child abuse and exploitation of a child and open and gross lewdness.

Nye County Detective David Boruchowitz says the victims of the alleged abuse range in age from toddlers to children as old as 14. Boruchowitz says a parent called police on Sunday after a child said something about being molested.

Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo says authorities are investigating whether other children had contact with Hamett.

The Nye County sheriff's office says formal charges haven't yet been filed. It says Hamett will likely be appointed an attorney.
