LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Nevada judge called for a rewrite of a settlement between a former patient and the insurer of an owner of a Las Vegas clinic at the center of a sweeping hepatitis C exposure case.

Clark County District Court Judge David Wall said Tuesday that vague language in the confidential agreement should be reworked.

Lawyers for Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada owner Dr. Dipak Desai object to the settlement between his medical malpractice insurer and former patient Michael Washington.

Washington alleges he contracted incurable hepatitis C during a colonoscopy.

Desai, other doctors and his clinics face similar lawsuits from
some 300 former patients.

Terms of the settlement are sealed. But the state caps damages in medical malpractice cases at $350,000 plus costs for future medical treatment.
