LAS VEGAS (AP) - An officials says a member of magician Steve Wyrick's stunt crew is recovering from injuries after fire engulfed the staging area of a holiday act billed as a "Death Drop."
Wyrick representative Lindsey Rathjen told the Las Vegas Review-Journal for a Monday report the unidentified man was treated by paramedics and was expected to fully recover.
The incident occurred Saturday in front of Fourth of July revelers on the Las Vegas Strip in front of the Planet Hollywood resort.
Wyrick had been shackled near the box, which was to be lifted by
crane 80 feet in the air before the illusionist was to escape while
ropes burned and the box crashed on flaming spikes.
As the audience watched flames being extinguished, a helicopter landed nearby with Wyrick inside.
