LAS VEGAS (AP) - Clark County voters aren't going to see a $7 billion, 10-year school construction bond measure the November ballot after all.
The Clark County School Board made it official Friday, voting
unanimously to postpone the measure until 2010.
Critics say administrators could have sought a smaller bond, which would have helped the fast-growing school district keep ahead of growth.
But school Superintendent Walt Rulffes says growth projections are down, and now isn't a good time to ask taxpayers to support a bond issue.
The district is the nation's fifth-largest, with more than 308,000 students at 341 schools.
The bond would pay for building 73 new schools by 2018 to handle
close to 450,000 students.
