LAS VEGAS (AP) - The state Commission on Judicial Discipline says a suspended Nevada judge must submit to a health evaluation if she wants to raise disability or medical issues in her defense during an upcoming hearing that could strip her of her elected position.

The panel issued its order Wednesday in Carson City.

It says Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Halverson can't raise health issues unless she is examined by July 18 by a Reno-based psychiatrist picked by the commission.

The commission also denied Halverson's request to postpone the hearing, and required her to submit by Thursday a list of witnesses
she might call on her behalf.

Halverson is due to represent herself Aug. 4-8 before a seven-member panel considering allegations that she fell asleep during trials, mistreated staff members, and illegally communicated with jurors.

The 50-year-old Halverson denies the allegations.

She has a range of health issues, and has blamed vindictive colleagues and disgruntled employees for the allegations against her.
